This graphite pencil drawing by REW on card stock is another in the #600 series of early sketches by REW. This image was probably done in his New York City studio provided to him as the winner of the 1937 Chaloner Prize. The sketch has an impressionistic style to it in the tradition of Cassatt and Renoir. This may have been a study for the fully realized painting by REW Circus Girl In Her Dressing Tent which was very successful. Unframed and unsigned, REW catalogue number on the back of #615. Image dimension 8.5” x 7” (Please click on the thumbnail to see the full image.)
